Just wondering what accessible torrent clients people are using? I've used Utorrent for years; but last time I installed it, it snuck in this hideous conduit toolbar thing. I've seen reports that even though the toolbar is optional, it sometimes gets installed anyway during auto-updates, so I'm not sure I trust uTorrent anymore.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Al
i use bitcomet.
people tend to say oh it's not accessible i'm not using it anymore, but that's people that won't give it a chance.
it also works for dropbox and sendspace

I tend to not like the newer versions of Utorrent, so I downgraded mine to the 2.x builds.
I upgraded Utorrent to a newer version a few months ago, so I believe it would have been 3.6 or something like that. I don't remember the exact version number. Anyway, ever since then, even when I downgraded back to an older version, it would start to download the torrents I loaded into it, then my computer would restart by itself about 10 to 15 minutes later. Virus scans came back clean, so I ditched Utorrent and now I use free download manager. It can handle torrents as well as download from many otherwise inaccessible file sharing websites such as Mediafire and Megaupload. I was using the Skip Screen plugin for Firefox to do that, but it crapped out on me last week, so I asked around and found this Free Download Manager, and I have no complaints. It also downloads files quite fast, I'd say about as fast as the Sendspace wizard does if that's a point of reference for you.
OMG! I noticed that same issue with utorrent! When running it, it would like automatically restart my PC for no apparent reason at all. So freedownload manager, is pretty good, yyou say?
hmm,
just my 2cents. The shaping of torrents can get quite bad hear at times, so i've opted to use torrents to http instead.
I do know this topic is about alternative clients but I think torrents to http can be an alternative to those who wish to download torrents abit easily than to having to get the client working the way you want.
Regards,
Free Download Manager is the best such client I've seen. I wonder why it is that some of us had that problem with our PC's restarting with Utorrent and others don't?
that's why I don't use the latest version of Utorrent!
I just find it odd that even when I went back to an older version my computer would restart when up to that point it had been working fine. There is definitely something fishy about that. In any case, I'm sticking with Free Download Manager, because now I have everything I need in one program.
Where do you get download manager from?
